Volleyball takes down Willamette in four sets

Wolves return to winning ways with 3-1 win over the Bearcats.

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Christie Colasurdo tallied her first-career double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs to lead the Western Oregon volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-18, 25-27, 25-20, 25-20) victory over Willamette on Wednesday night. With the victory, WOU improves to 3-2 on the season while Willamette falls to 4-5.

In addition to Colasurdo's strong night, Hannah Deede led WOU with 14 kills while Cherene O'Hara added nine in the victory.

WOU used a balanced defensive effort to help claim the win as the Wolves held the Bearcats to a .134 attack percentage. The Wolves recorded eight team blocks in the win, led by Becky Blees and Deede with five each.

Megan Triggs added 25 digs for the Wolves while Deede just missed out on a double-double with nine.

Sara Fincher led two Willamette players with 17 kills.

WOU will return to action on Friday, Sept. 13, when the Wolves open play at the Oredigger Classic against Colorado School of Mines at 12:00 p.m.
