Volleyball drops heartbreaker to Crusaders

SALEM, Ore. – The Western Oregon volleyball team dropped a hard-fought, five-set decision to Northwest Nazarene on Saturday evening as the Wolves fell to the Crusaders, 3-2 (25-15-25-23, 21-25, 13-25, 9-15) in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest. With the loss, WOU falls to 4-7 overall, 1-1 in league action.
 
The loss overshadowed a balanced WOU attack as three Wolves finished the evening with double-digit kills. Cherene O'Hara led the Wolves with 12 kills while Hannah Deede added 11 kills and eight digs for WOU.
 
After falling behind 2-0, NNU responded with wins in the final three sets as Elayna Rice led the Crusaders and all players with 20 kills.
 
The Wolves had another solid defensive effort, holding the Crusaders to a .183 atttack percentage, as Megan Triggs recorded 27 digs while Krissi Kemper led all players with seven blocks.
 
The Wolves will look to rebound from the defeat as WOU hosts Concordia on Wednesday, Sept 25, at 7:00 p.m.
