MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon University women's soccer team shut out Simon Fraser University with a 4-0 win on Saturday.
The Wolves (5-4-3, 3-2-3 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) remained unbeaten this weekend at home. They scored their first goal in the 26th minute when
Allison Sprecher took a shot, and
Allison Frost followed up the loose ball for a rebound.
The scoreboard remained 1-0 until the second half in the 59th minute as
Peyton Moon took a free kick near the 50-yard line.
Taylor Higa volleyed the ball in off of the cross to score the Wolves' second goal of the game. Higa then got on the end of
Makana Pundyke's cross, which she tapped in to score her second goal of the game during the 65th minute.
Within the last 30 seconds of the game,
Machaela Rapozo sealed the deal as she received a cross from
Julie Belden and kicked the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal.
Overall, Western Oregon outshot Simon Fraser (2-10-0, 2-6-0 GNAC) 21-9, causing the Wolves' Amanda Johnson to make three saves as opposed to the 11 saves by the Clan's Priya Sandhu.
Western Oregon takes on Central Washington University in Monmouth on Thursday at 3 p.m.
