Box Score MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon University soccer team had a scoreless draw with Central Washington University for the third straight time Thursday.

The Wolves (5-4-4, 3-2-4 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) and CWU played to a 0-0 finish just 12 days ago in Ellensburg, Wash. Their previous meeting in Monmouth last season also ended 0-0. The two programs have played 353 minutes without scoring a goal, much to the credit of their defenses and goalkeepers.

After scoring four goals on a season-high 15 shots against Simon Fraser Saturday, WOU again took 15 shots Thursday, but failed to find the net. The Wildcats and Western Oregon combined for 31 shots, as the Wolves placed nine on goal to CWU's seven.

Taylor Higa led all players with five shots, but Allison Sprecher had three shots on goal. Bailey Martoncik took four shots to lead Central Washington, placing three on the net.

The best chance for a score in the game developed in dramatic fashion. With 10 seconds remaining in regulation, the Wildcats earned a corner kick, and quickly took a short corner. Danielle Bandli struck a ball just outside the 18-yard box and curled it just over the reach of Western Oregon's Amanda Rose Johnson. The shot left Brandli's foot with one second left, but it did not go into the net before the horn sounded and the clock hit zero.

Kayla Lipston made nine saves for Central Washington (5-6-2, 4-3-2 GNAC). Johnson stopped six shots. In their first meeting this season, Johnson made a career-high 13 saves, while Lipston saved six shots.

The Wildcats remain a point ahead of Western Oregon in fourth place in the conference standings. The top four teams advance to the GNAC tournament. The second place and fifth place teams in the GNAC standings are separated by only four points, while third and fifth are only a point from each other.

The Wolves play four of their final five games away from home. WOU wraps up its home schedule Saturday against the current second place team in conference, Seattle Pacific (7-3-2, 5-2-2). This is the first meeting of the season between the schools as they will play again in Seattle on Oct. 30.

Saturday's start is scheduled for 1 p.m. Western Oregon will honor five seniors on Senior Day. Live video and stats will be available on WOUWolves.com. The game will also be broadcast locally on WOU TV and throughout the Willamette Valley on KWVT.
