NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team continued their dominance in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a three-set win over Western Oregon University Saturday, 23-25, 22-25 and 23-25.
The Crusaders (17-2, 10-1 GNAC) have been unbeatable at home, winning their seventh straight in Nampa this season and 10th straight overall. NNU was given a test in all three sets by the Wolves, finishing with a slight advantage in overall attack percentage .117-.109.
Andrea Terpstra and Taylor VanValey each finished with 10 kills for the Crusaders. Michelle Terpstra led all players with 32 assists. NNU ended with 36 total assists. Taylor Roberts had 15 digs. Madi Farrell had five block assists and VanValey add four more.
On the other side of the court, the Wolves (2-17, 0-11 GNAC) looked to end their 11-game losing streak against the #1 team in the GNAC, but fell just short in each of the three sets.
Cherene O'Hara led WOU with 10 kills, finishing with a .364 attack percentage.
Hannah Deede had eight kills and five block assists. Samantha Moore ended with seven kills, five block assists and a team-best .375 kill percentage.
Jordin Ramos had 15 assists and 10 digs, while
Kiana Cash finished with 14 assists and seven digs.
Christie Colasurdo led the team with 14 digs.
The Crusaders held a minor advantage in kills 39-35, in assists 36-32 and digs 54-52. The Wolves led in blocks with 11 to NNU's eight. There were 17 tie scores and nine lead changes during the match.
The Wolves next opportunity comes Oct. 25 against Saint Martin's University (4-18, 1-10 GNAC). The two teams matched up once previously this season Sep. 27, with the Saints taking it in five sets in Monmouth. Game time is at 7 p.m. with live stats and video available on WOUWolves.com.
