MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon University's women's soccer team held off Saint Martin's University with a 1-0 victory on Thursday.
 
In the 25th minute, Peyton Moon played a long ball for Makana Pundyke to run onto it. Pundyke put the Wolves (4-4-1, 2-2-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) on the board when she struck a shot at the 18-yard box, which deflected off of the defender and into the goal.
 
The Wolves outshot the Saints (0-7-2, 0-4-1 GNAC) 14-8 in the game. Allison Sprecher had five shots, Mariah Konyn had two shots on goal, and Kealakekua Makekau had a pair of her own.
 
Amanda Rose Johnson saved four shots in the match, whereas the Saint's Sunny De Boer had seven saves. Western Oregon committed 16 fouls, Saint Martin's committed 13.
 
Western Oregon travels to Ellensburg, Wash., on Saturday to take on Central Washington University at 11 a.m.
