LACEY, Wash. – The Western Oregon University baseball team grabbed a pair of 4-0 victories at Saint Martin's University (Wash.) Saturday to stay atop the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

The Wolves (17-10, 11-3 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) won their third and fourth straight games. WOU picked up the two shutouts behind strong pitching on the mound with victories coming from Spenser Watkins (3-3) and Matt Minnich (4-3). The duo combined for 11 strikeouts with Minnich having seven.

"The pitching staff competed well for us today," WOU Head Coach Kellen Walker said. "Not everyone had their best stuff, but found a way to get out of some tough spots."

Parker Miles went 8-for-15 at the plate and was walked once. He had three doubles and drove in a run. Austin Hamilton had two RBI in his 3-for-5 day at the plate. Matt Taylor also brought in two runs Saturday.

"It was a step forward offensively for us today, but we can still be more productive in certain situations," Walker said. "Every at-bat needs to continue to be extremely important to us as hitters. Tomorrow will be a big test for us. It's a great opportunity for us to get right back to work tomorrow."
