BILLINGS, Mont. – The Western Oregon University baseball team sealed a series victory with a split at Montana State University Billings Saturday.
 
The Wolves (23-15, 16-8 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) fell in the third game at MSUB, 9-4, before winning the final game of the series, 11-8. WOU inched closer to the postseason with the victory, and remained atop the GNAC standings.
 
Miles Parker finished 3-for-8 at the plate and was walked twice. He had four RBI after hitting a home run and a double. Tim Rausch went 5-for-10. Austin Hamilton had three RBI. Taylor Hetrick grabbed a win on the mound.
 
After Western Oregon scored the first two runs in the first two innings in Game 1, MSUB countered with five runs in the bottom of the second. The Yellowjackets never trailed again and handed Eric Huson (5-1) his first loss of the season on the mound. Huson tossed the first 4.1 innings and allowed three earned runs on nine hits.
 
Montana State Billings outhit WOU, 11-9, and took advantage of three Wolves' errors. Drew Christina (1-4) picked up the win after throwing the first six innings.
 
In the second game, Western Oregon jumped out to a commanding lead with seven runs in the top of the inning. The Wolves never trailed in the game. Taylor Hetrick (3-2) grabbed the victory. He gave up four earned runs on five hits through four innings.
 
The Yellowjackets (10-22, 7-11) committed eight errors in the seven-inning loss. WOU outhit MSU Billings, 14-9. Western Oregon stranded nine runners on base, while MSUB left four.
 
The Wolves travel to Nampa, Idaho, for a pair of doubleheaders Friday and Saturday. Friday's start begins at 7 p.m. Mountain Time. Live stats will be available on WOUWolves.com.
