MONMOUTH, Ore. – The No. 2 Lewis-Clark State College baseball team grabbed a 9-4 road win at Western Oregon University in a non-conference matchup Friday.
 
The Warriors (40-7), ranked second in the NAIA, improved to 12-2 against Great Northwest Athletic Conference opponents this season. LCSC also moved to 4-1 versus the Wolves this year. The teams meet again in a doubleheader Sunday in Monmouth.
 
The teams combined for 26 hits Friday, but Michael Noteware settled into the contest and pitched his first complete game of the season. He allowed four earned runs on 10 hits. Noteware (6-1) struck out six Wolves and tossed one walk. At the plate, Cody Weiss went 3-for-4, scoring three times. Jake Shirley also had three hits.
 
After a scoreless first inning, WOU's Jake Whisler hit an RBI single through the left side that drove in Daniel McNabb. Chris Bradshaw then scored Whisler and Garret Harpole with a double to left field. Lewis-Clark State evened the score with three runs in the top of the third, including a two-RBI double by Brian Corliss.
 
In the top of the fourth, the Wolves regained the lead after McNabb hit a triple the brought in Parker Miles. But, WOU failed to score again.
 
After tying the game in the fourth, Lewis-Clark State took its first lead of the game in the top of the sixth. Tariq Staton had an RBI single and RBI double in the seventh and ninth innings to close out the Warrior win.
 
Western Oregon (29-18) dropped its third straight game and moved to 11-7 this season at home. McNabb and Miles both had two-hit games. Spenser Watkins (6-4) allowed four earned runs on seven hits through four innings. The senior struck out three batters, while walking one.
 
Both teams close out their regular seasons Sunday. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. The Wolves will honor 12 seniors between the games. Live video and stats will be available on WOUWolves.com.
