MONMOUTH, Ore. – The No. 13 Central Washington University volleyball team escaped with a five-set victory at Western Oregon University Monday, 24-26, 25-18, 25-21, 19-25, 15-10.
 
The Wildcats' (9-2, 2-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) Catie Fry dished out 58 assists, the highest total in a single match so far this season. Kiah Jones had a match-high 20 kills. Linden Firethorne and Jordan Deming both contributed 14 terminations. Deming added 18 digs. Kaely Kight recorded 32 digs. Fry and Lauren Herseth both had 17 digs, while Lindsey Milner had 12. Deming, Fry, and Erin Little all totaled four blocks.
 
Both teams finished with 110 digs, the second most this season in the conference. Central Washington ended with a slim .166 to .149 attack percentage advantage. The Wildcats also held a 69-55 edge in kills. CWU committed nine service errors to the Wolves' six, but Central Washington had five aces while WOU had none.
 
Western Oregon came close to claiming its first conference victory of the season in stunning fashion. WOU battled with the highly-ranked Wildcats for over two hours. The match featured 29 ties and just five lead changes, with only two ties and no lead changes in the final two sets.
 
Hannah Deede led the Wolves (2-9, 0-4 GNAC) with 19 kills, a team season-high. Jordin Ramos finished with 25 assists and 20 digs. Sam Moore chipped in 19 assists. Jaryn Ramos totaled 30 digs, Alisha Bettinson had 25, and Christie Colasurdo finished with 21. Maddi Ober totaled eight assisted blocks.
 
Western Oregon remains home and hosts Saint Martin's (2-12, 0-4). The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Live video and stats will be available on WOUWolves.com.
