MONMOUTH, Ore. –
Savannah Bogan scored Western Oregon's lone goal for the game equalizer, but a hat trick from the Falcons' Hannah Huesers ultimately led to a 3-1 loss on Saturday morning.
As Seattle Pacific (8-2-1, 4-2-1 GNAC) had a 1-0 edge on the Wolves (5-5-1, 1-4-1 GNAC) at halftime, Bogan put Western Oregon back into the game in the 53rd minute. The Falcons responded with two goals of their own to secure the victory as Huesers scored all three.
In the 34th minute, Seattle Pacific's first goal started from a cross into the 18-yard box, and after a touch by Simone Herzberg, Huesers slotted the ball to the bottom right corner of the goal.
Determined to tie the game up,
Dacia Alexander and Bogan made a few combination passes. It would be a final drop pass from Alexander that would allow Bogan to launch a shot into the top right corner from about 25 yards out.
The Falcons didn't allow the Wolves any breathing room as Mickayla Mury played a through ball for Huesers to score her second goal of the game just 10 minutes later.
Western Oregon continued to trudge forward, creating chances for themselves and taking seven total shots in the game.
Shelby Peterson had an opportunity to equalize the game once again when she blocked Seattle Pacific's clearance and sprinted toward the goal with only the Falcon's goalkeeper standing in her way. Peterson's shot ended up just left of the goal.
In the 86th minute, Huesers helped protect the Falcon's win as she beat the Wolves' back line and scored the final goal, obtaining a hat trick for the game and her 10th for the season.
Overall, Bogan and
Taylor Higa each had two shots for the game. Alexander and
Mariah Konyn also had chances at goal with one shot each.
Seattle Pacific outshot the Wolves as they took 11 with five on goal. Goalkeeper
Nicole Tejada had two saves for the game, while the Falcons' Molly Stinson made one.
Up next, the Wolves look to bounce back from the weekend as they will travel to Saint Martin's on Thursday, October 15 and to Concordia on Saturday, October 17.
