Wolves allow two goals in Seattle

Western Oregon soccer drop to Seattle Pacific

SEATTLE, Wash. – Western Oregon soccer began their final road trip of the regular GNAC season with a 2-0 loss against Seattle Pacific on Thursday evening.
                                   
In the first half, each team took three shots, yet all three of Seattle Pacific's (11-3-2, 7-3-2 GNAC) shots were on target, causing goalkeeper Nicole Tejada to make the trio of saves. After the first 45 minutes, however, it was still a scoreless game.
 
Two minutes into the second half, the Falcons put a point on the board as Kaytlin Willis blasted a shot from 30 yards out to the upper left corner of the goal.
 
After the goal, the Wolves (7-8-1, 3-7-1 GNAC) came out with four consecutive shots within a span of 16 minutes. Three of them came from Taylor Higa, two from Mariah Konyn, and another from Dani Payne.
 
The Wolves' shooting party came to an end when Seattle Pacific scored their second goal in the 82nd minute. After a shot from Emma Holm, which was blocked, and some scrambling, Maddy Booster poked the ball to the left post.
 
Higa and Konyn ultimately led the charts for the Wolves as Higa took four shots, and Konyn took three. Makana Pundyke and Shelby Peterson also took a chance at goal.
 
Despite outshooting the Falcons, 10-8, Seattle Pacific claimed the desire outcome of the game. This is the second consecutive game where the Wolves outshot their opponents but were unable to put the ball in the back of the net.
 
Western Oregon will compete in their final game of the regular GNAC season on Saturday at Simon Fraser.
