How It Happened
The Wolves came out fighting from the beginning. Despite being down for the majority of the first quarter, the Wolves stayed in close distance and went on a 5-0 run to steal the lead at the end of the period.

In the second quarter, the Wolves went on another six-point run with four points coming from Jordan Mottershaw, but the Clan snapped back with a ten-point streak of their own. However, Ali Nelke completed two jumpers and a layup to take the lead once again, and Western Oregon went into the locker room at the half with the momentum in their hands.

The third quarter included back-and-forth scoring as neither team had larger than a six-point advantage. The game started to shift as the Clan held onto a four-point lead at the end of the third quarter and began to pull away from the Wolves.

Natalie DeLonge's two free throw shots put the Wolves within three points in the middle of the fourth quarter, but Western Oregon was unable to reclaim the lead, and the Clan took the victory.

Despite the loss, it was a complete team effort as 10 out of the 11 Wolves each scored at least four points for the night.

Coach Quotes
WOU head coach Holli Howard-Carpenter after the loss:
  • "We played a solid first half and battled back each of the first two quarters to get it to even and then to go ahead before the half. We pushed the tempo and were able to get to the free throw line tonight, and that really helped us to get going offensively."
  • "Simon Fraser is a good team, and we knew they would fight back in the second half, and they did just that. Their guards are tough to contain because they can shoot it so well and they can go off the bounce. Three's add up quickly, and we just never really recovered from their third quarter run. They slowed us down a bit with their press, and we couldn't find an offensive rhythm again."
