ANOTHER WEEK ON THE ROAD FOR WOU SPIKERS
Western Oregon plays two matches on the road this week beginning Tuesday with a battle for Oregon Division II bragging rights at Concordia. The week concludes with a trip to Big Sky country facing Montana State Billings on Saturday night. Both matches start at 7 p.m. local time with video/live stat coverage on WOUWolves.com/Live.

WOLVES' WATCH
Junior outside hitter Alisha Bettinson is leading Western Oregon in kills through 15 matches with 210, averaging 3.62 kills per set. Sophomore Amanda Short is second with 121 kills while Paige Orth and Mariella Vandenkooy each have 110 kills. Orth is the WOU leading blocker at 0.81 blocks per game. Sophomore setter Maddie Mehciz leads the team with 10.19 assists per set while senior libero Christie Colasurdo paces the team with 5.05 digs per game followed by Bettinson at 2.95 digs. Redshirt freshman Libbie Hoene has the touch from the line, leading WOU in serving aces with 27.

SCOUTING THE CONCORDIA CAVALIERS
Concordia split matches in Alaska last week – winning a five-set battle in Fairbanks against the Nanooks before dropping a Saturday matinee in three sets to Alaska Anchorage. CU is averaging 12.6 kills, 1.6 aces, 14.3 digs and 2.1 blocks per set, hitting .218 as a team. Four players are averaging two or more kills per game, led by a 3.2 average from junior Lindsey Dorsey. Also above the 2.0 kps mark are senior Brenna Huwe (2.95), sophomore Tori Johnson (2.42) and junior Colby Barnette. Junior setter Michele Brown leads the Concordia offense dishing out 10.8 assists a game. Freshman defensive specialist Anna Dols is tops on the team with 4.38 digs per game.
 
THE MATCHUP: WOLVES VS. CAVALIERS
Since 1984, Western Oregon enjoy a healthy 35-4 advantage in the all-time series, but Concordia has won the last four meetings. Last season, the Cavaliers won in four sets in Monmouth and swept the Wolves in Portland. The 2015 season was the first for Concordia as members of the NCAA Division II ranks. The last WOU win came in 1998, a four-set home triumph.

SCOUTING THE MONTANA STATE BILLINGS YELLOWJACKETS
MSUB, who plays Concordia on Thursday in Billings, enters the week with a 2-15 overall record and 1-7 mark in the GNAC. Last week, the Yellowjackets lost a pair of four-set matches on the road to Seattle Pacific and Saint Martin's. Montana State Billings is averaging 12.0 kills, 1.6 aces, 14.7 digs and 1.5 blocks per game, hitting .170 as a team. Senior outside hitters Ashlynn Ward (3.55 kps) and Stormy Siemion (3.49 kps) account for over half the MSUB per game this season. Freshman setter Angala Jensen is averaging 8.68 assists per set senior libero Kylee Cornelio had 254 digs for the Yellowjackets.
 
THE MATCHUP: WOLVES VS. YELLOWJACKETS
Western Oregon leads the series dating back to 1986 by a 16-6 advantage. Last season, the Wolves won both matches from MSUB, sweeping the Jackets in Billings while battling to a late five-setter in Monmouth.
 
WHAT'S ON THE HORIZON
Western Oregon returns home for two matches against Saint Martin's on Oct. 20 and Seattle Pacific on Oct. 22 to begin the second half of GNAC play.
