MONMOUTH, Ore. – In its first exhibition game of the year, the Western Oregon women's basketball team used a 10-0 run midway through the third quarter to defeat visiting Linfield College, 82-71.

The Wolves were led by junior guard
Shelby Snook, who scored 24 points on 10 of 16 shooting. The Roseburg, Ore. product also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

WOU got out to a slow start from the field and fell behind 15-9 through four minutes of action. WOU trimmed the lead to one with 32 seconds left in the first quarter with a 6-0 run. A jumper from junior

Kennedy Corrigan made the score 19-18. A late score from the Wildcats ended the quarter with a 21-18 score.

A tight second quarter finally saw Western Oregon grab its first lead on a Huegly three-pointer with 1:47 left before halftime. Linfield sank a pair of charity shots in the final seconds to take a 39-38 lead into halftime.

With the score knotted at 43-43, WOU outscored the Wildcats 18-6 over the final 5:56 of the third quarter to seize momentum. Snook was the run's catalyst with a driving lay-in while Boschma hit a big three-pointer after a Wildcat attempt from distance ricocheted off the rim. Huegly ended a 10-0 spurt while a jump shot for a 53-43 lead.

Solid team defense did not allow Linfield to make any substantial runs. The Wildcats trimmed the WOU lead to single digits just once in the fourth quarter. A Corrigan layup and triple from senior guard
Launia Davis pushed the lead to 17 points, aiding the Wolves to a double-digit advantage the rest of the way.

Boschma chipped in 15 points and five rebounds, while Corrigan came off the bench adding 13 points and three steals. Davis was the fourth WOU player in double figures with 12 points.

The Wolves shot 45 percent from the field and tallied 32 points in the paint.

Western Oregon plays one more exhibition on Friday (Nov. 4) at Portland State in the Stott Center. Tipoff with the Vikings is set for 5 p.m.
