CHICO, Calif. – Shelby Snook scored 25 points, but her 3-point effort in the final seconds fell off the rim to give host Chico State a 70-67 win over Western Oregon Friday at the Coslet Classic at Acker Gym.

Jasmine Miller had a career-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting for Western Oregon while the Wildcats (3-1) were led by Whitney Branham, who had 16 of her career-high 25 points in the second half.

Snook and Miller combined for 29 of the 61 total attempts from the field for the Wolves with
Launia Davis having the next highest total of attempts with nine.

Western Oregon held a 58-54 lead at the 7:30 mark of the fourth quarter after two free throws from
Kaylie Boschma. The Wildcats responded with a 9-2 run, including six points from Branham, to move ahead 63-60. WOU would trim the lead down to one on three different occasions. Miller's jumper with 5:07 to go was followed by a Snook make on the next possession. Trailing by four with under a minute to play, Miller connected from behind the arc to trim Chico State's lead to 68-67.

A big offensive rebound for Chico State led to Branham begin fouled with 19 seconds left. After she made both charity shots, Snook got a good look from distance on a tying shot. WOU claimed two offensive rebounds, but could not push the game in to overtime.

Western Oregon got into a position for the road win outscoring Chico State in the third quarter 25-13. Snook had 15 points in the period to eliminate a seven-point deficit and turn it into a 54-49 lead.

Boschma finished the night with six points and three rebounds while
Kennedy Corrigan led the charge off the bench with five.

Western Oregon plays the early game on day two of the Coslet Classic against Sonoma State at 5 p.m. The Seawolves (3-0) cruised past Dixie State, 82-58, earlier in the day.
