PORTLAND, Ore. - In their return trip to the House of Track facility in downtown Portland, the Western Oregon track and field team performed well among top teams from Division I and Division II Thursday.

Emmi Collier won the female shot put competition with a mark of 44 feet, 9 inches, a personal best and third best WOU distance all-time. The winning distance gave Collier a NCAA provisional qualifying mark in just her third event of the season.

David Cornish broke the WOU school record in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 8:27.63 to finish third overall and with a time 17 seconds faster than the next Division II competitor.

In the men's mile race, David Ribich and Sam Naffziger went 1-2 overall. Ribich's time of 4:12.41 was two one-hundredths faster than the NCAA Provisional mark while Naffziger crossed the line at 4:12.87.

Cody Warner posted the meet's best time in the 200 meters at 21.80, earning a provisional standard.

Chalk up another relay win for the WOU men's 4x400-relay squad. The quartet of AJ Holmberg, Josh Hanna, Aaron Whitaker and Badane Sultessa crossed the line nearly two seconds ahead of the University of Portland with a time of 3:21.76. The women's "A" relay team (Suzanne Van De Grift, Megan Rose, Bailey Beeson, Olivia Woods) won their heat and finished fifth overall.

Western Oregon returns to the Emerald City next weekend to compete in the Husky Classic (Friday-Saturday, Feb, 12-13) and the UW Indoor Open (Sunday, Feb. 14).
