Taylor Higa, the Western Oregon women's soccer team defeated George Fox, 1-0, on Thursday at WOU Soccer Field. The shutout victory was the first for true freshman goalkeeper Caitlyn Kastelic in her first collegiate match.

The Wolves (1-0) earned the game-winner after senior
Allison Sprecher broke loose on the right side and fed a perfect pass toward Higa in the box. Higa fired her shot to the top left corner past Kelsey Kammerzell.

WOU missed out scoring in the first half despite outshooting the visiting Bruins (0-1) by 10 shots (13-3). The Wolves outshot George Fox 22-7 in the game, led by Higa and sophomore
Dacia Alexander with four shot each.

Sprecher almost added insurance in the 85
th minute, but her open look rebounded off the left post.
Kastelic made seven saves including an grab in the 81st minute besting a one-on-one test from 15 yards out.

The Wolves will begin a three-match road swing on Wednesday, Sept. 7 against Academy of Art in San Francisco at noon.
