How It Happened
GNAC Preseason Player of the Year Sekou Wiggs led all scorers with 25 points as the host Seawolves broke a two-game losing skid with an 81-73 victory over Western Oregon on Thursday night in Anchorage.

There were six lead changes before Alaska Anchorage shook off an early 15-11 Western Oregon lead before pulling away for a 40-33 advantage at the break.

Western Oregon came out strong in the second half and used a 5-0 run in the first minute to pull within two, 40-38, on a 3-pointer from
JJ Chirnside and a layup from
Ali Faruq-Bey.

UAA quickly responded with five points of their own and bumped the lead back up to 10, 54-44, on two Wiggs free throws with 14:30 remaining. The Wolves trimmed the advantage over the next five minutes down to 62-59 on a triple by
Isaiah Edwards and consecutive layups from
Connor Thompson.

However, Alaska Anchorage zoomed to a 72-59 lead on free throws from Spencer Svejcar.

One final Western Oregon push came in the final four minutes beginning with a
Demetrius Trammell triple and two free throws from
Buster Souza. The Wolves got no closer than six after Trammell hit two from the stripe with 13 seconds to go.

Wolves' Top Performers
- Demetrius Trammell was 5-of-10 overall, 3-of-6 on 3-pointer and 4-of-4 from the line for 17 points off the bench.
- Ali Faruq-Bey battled past early foul trouble to post 12 points with three assists and two steals.
- Connor Thompson was perfect from the field (4-4) to score 11 points adding four rebounds in 15 minutes.

- Sekou Wiggs led all scorers with 25 points adding six assists, four rebounds and two steals.
- Spencer Svejcar and Ashton Pomrehn each had 12 points.
- Corey Hammell had 10 points and seven rebounds.
