MONMOUTH, Ore. – A frantic scoring first quarter by visiting Alaska Anchorage led to a GNAC home loss for Western Oregon on Thursday night at the New P.E. Building.

The Wolves lost 105-62 to No. 7/3 UAA to fall to 5-7 on the season and 1-4 in league play.

Jasmine Miller led Western Oregon with 14 points and six rebounds while
Sydney Azorr scored 11.

The Wolves were down 32-13 at the end of the first quarter after Alaska Anchorage (12-1, 5-0 GNAC) shot 65 percent from the floor over the first 10 minutes. The lead extended out to 59-27 at halftime as the pressure defense executed by the Seawolves forced 17 WOU turnovers that turned into 32 points on the opposite side of the court.

Behind six points from Azorr from the foul line in the third quarter, WOU played even with UAA. Western Oregon hit five of eight field goals in the period.

For the night, the Wolves shot 40.8 percent (20-49) from the field and 19-of-22 from the stripe (86.4 percent).

Western Oregon faces a quick turnaround due to forecasted hazardous weather. They will play Alaska on Friday night at 7 p.m. at the New P.E. Building. (game originally scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sat. 1/7).
