BILLINGS, Mont.—For the second time this season, Western Oregon University and Montana State University Billings played to a draw as the teams settled for a 0-0 tie in GNAC women's soccer action at Yellowjacket Field on Thursday afternoon.
The result for Western Oregon (2-7-2, 1-4-2 GNAC) came directly after a 2-0 win at Central Washington last week and the team has now compiled a run of 200 minutes of action without allowing a goal. WOU and MSUB played to a 1-1 standstill in Monmouth on Sept. 23.
The Wolves will continue its eastern swing at Northwest Nazarene University on Saturday, Oct. 14. Kick off against the Crusaders is set for 12:30 p.m. (MT), in Nampa, Idaho.
Against Montana State Billings (2-9-2, 1-5-2 GNAC), Western Oregon generated the bulk of the offensive chances throughout the match and registered a 16-to-7 advantage in overall shot attempts.
The Wolves peppered MSUB goalkeeper Erinn Harder with several shots on goal in an eight-minute span beginning in the 58th minute with
Alyssa Tomasini and
Dacia Alexander each firing back-to-back attempts. Alexander's final strike required a save by the Yellowjacket defensive back line to prevent a goal.
Both teams created one shot attempt in the first overtime period while the home side managed three attempts in the second extra session.
Posting her second straight shutout and third of the season,
Caitlin Kastelic denied five shots in goal for the Wolves while Harder came up with nine stops.
Tomasini finished with a career-high eight shots. Jessica Sprang had a team-high four shots for the 'Jackets.
