MONMOUTH, Ore.—The Western Oregon University (2-10-2, 1-7-2 GNAC) women's soccer team closes out the season this week with a road match at Seattle Pacific on Thursday before the season finale at home against Simon Fraser on Saturday.

ABOUT SEATTLE PACIFIC (9-6-0, 7-4-0 GNAC): The Falcons have clinched one of the four GNAC Tournament spots and are fighting for the No. 3 seed in the postseason along with Northwest Nazarene… SPU is 5-1-0 at home this season with its lone loss a 1-0 battle with No. 2-ranked Western Washington on Oct. 19… The Falcons won in overtime, 2-1, at WOU, on Sept.30… Kasey Reeve leads the team with 10 goals scored while four other Falcons have notched four goals each… Claire Nedar leads the team with four assists… In goal, Molly Stinson carries a 1.08 goals against average and a 9-6-0 record this season.

ABOUT SIMON FRASER (6-8-0, 4-6-0 GNAC): Simon Fraser was eliminated from postseason play last week with a split at home… The Clan topped Central Washington, 4-1, on Thursday before suffering a 1-0 defeat against No. 25-ranked Concordia… Emma Pringle leads the team with 12 goals scored while Christina Dickson (4 goals) and Katelyn Erhardsen (3 goals) have provided additional offense… Jenna Baxton paces the club with 11 assists… Priya Sandhu has played the majority of minutes in goal for SFU and carries a 1.87 goals against average and a .675 save percentage.

SENIOR DAY: Prior to the match on Saturday, the Wolves will honor its two seniors, Meli Cortez and Kai Mahuka... Cortez has played in 22 matches over the past two seasons and has scored three goals... As a defender, Mahuka has played in and started all but two matches over the last two years.

ACADEMIC SUCCESS: Nine members of the WOU soccer team landed on the All-Academic GNAC team on Oct. 19: Dacia Alexander, Chelsea Hartnett, Breanne Ihara, Eleanor Jones, Caitlin Kastelic, Selene Konyn, Kaitlin Poe, Morgan Roan and Sydney Thomas… Roan and Thomas were repeat selections for the Wolves… To be eligible student-athletes must be sophomore standings and possess a 3.20 grade-point average.  

LAST WEEK: The Wolves opened the week with a 3-0 defeat at No. 25-ranked Concordia University… WOU held the Cavaliers without a goal in the first half… After scoring in the 2nd minute against Saint Martin's, the Wolves held the 1-0 lead until the 84th minute before SMU found the equalizer… The Saints scored the golden goal in the 94th minute.

OVERTIME: The Wolves have participated in overtime matches in five of their last eight outings and have now gone to extra sessions in six contests in 2017… Four of the six overtime games have advanced to the second overtime period… WOU is 0-4-2 in overtime affairs.

TOMASINO NAMED GNAC POW: With two goals in the second half against Chaminade, freshman Alyssa Tomasini was named the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11… Tomasini broke the stalemate in the 64th minute against the Silverswords and returned with her second goal of the day in the 81st minute to preserve the first win of the season for the Wolves.

WOU ATTACK: Eight different WOU players have scored a goal so far this season with freshman Alyssa Tomasini and junior Meli Cortez tied for the team lead with two goals each… The team's seven assists have come from six different players… Alexie Morris has the team lead with two assists.

IN GOAL: Sophomore Caitlin Kastelic has played all 1336:55 minutes for the Wolves between the pipes… Kastelic holds a 2.02 goals allowed per match average and a .714 save percentage… Kastelic is third in the GNAC with 5.36 saves per game and third in the league with 75 total saves this season… With 1,540 minutes logged a year ago, Kastelic played all but 10 minutes in goal during her freshman campaign for the Wolves in 2016.

YOUTH MOVEMENT: The Wolves feature eight freshmen and six sophomores on the roster… Defender Kai Mahuka represents the lone senior on the squad… Four players are in their third season in the program in Dacia AlexanderChelsea HartnettMorgan Roan and Sydney Thomas.

RETURNERS: The Wolves return eight players that started at least one match a year ago, including senior defender Kai Mahuka, who got the starting nod in 15 contests in 2016… In the midfield, Meli Cortez made eight starts, Dacia Alexander six and Selene Konyn five… Defender Kaitlin Poe started four contests on the back line... The Wolves graduated players that scored 13 of the team's 16 goals a year ago, including Taylor Higa, who led the squad with seven goals and four assists.

GNAC PRESASON POLL: With 23 points in the poll of the nine head coaches, the Wolves were picked to finish eighth in the GNAC Preseason Coaches' Poll… The Wolves ranked higher than Saint Martin's (11 points) while being edged in points by Northwest Nazarene (26 points)… Defending national champion Western Washington earned all nine first-place votes for 91 points and was followed by Central Washington (62 points) and Concordia (58 points).

2016 RECAP: The Wolves went 5-11-1 overall in 2016… With a 2-9-1 record in GNAC play, WOU placed seventh in the league standings… WOU opened the year with back-to-back wins against George Fox and the Academy of Art… The Wolves experienced two overtime games a year ago, taking a loss at Saint Martin's on Oct. 6 and returning with a double-overtime win at Concordia on Oct. 18.
