SEATTLE, Wash.—Scoring the lone goal of the match moments before halftime, Seattle Pacific University defeated Western Oregon University, 1-0, in a defensive battle on Thursday night at Interbay Stadium.

With the win, Seattle Pacific moved to 10-6-0 on the season and 8-4-0 in GNAC play. The Falcons have clinched one of the four GNAC postseason tournament spots and will enter the final match of the season tied with Northwest Nazarene for the No. 3 seed in the tourney.

Western Oregon (2-11-2, 1-8-2 GNAC) will close out the season at home against Simon Fraser University on Saturday, Oct. 28. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the WOU Soccer Field. Prior to the start of the game, the Wolves will honor their two seniors, Meli Cortez and Kai Mahuka.

After almost 44 minutes of scoreless play on the pitch, SPU's Makalya Sonstelie tapped in an unassisted goal moments before the half.

The Wolves created multiple chances at the equalizer in the second half with Kennedy Clay generating both of the team's shots on goal with attempts in the 65th and 73rd minutes on frame to force SPU goalkeeper Molly Stinson into save situations.

Overall, the Falcons outshot the visiting side 22 to 9 in total shots

Caitlin Kastelic stuffed several SPU scoring chances to register six saves for the Wolves. Allowing just the single goal, Kastelic lowered her goals allowed average to 1.96 per game in the effort. The Wolves have allowed less than three goals in nine of the team's 15 matches this season.
