WAIPAHU, Hawaii – The Western Oregon softball team completed a doubleheader sweep of Chaminade Wednesday evening at Central Oahu Regional Park combining for 23 runs on 22 hits. With the pair of victories, WOU improve to 4-5 on the season.

Destiny Kuehl went 5-for-6 with a pair of home runs and four runs batted in while
Emma Alfonso also homered twice in the first game.

Game One – Western Oregon 11, Chaminade 2
Western Oregon jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings taking advantage of an RBI single from Kuehl in the opening frame and runs knocked by
Ashley Doyle and Kuehl in the third inning.

WOU hit three home runs in the game, starting with a solo-shot by Alfonso leading off the fourth.
Ashlee Lynch lifted a two-run homer to left in the fifth inning while Alfonso went yard for a two-run shot in a four-run seventh inning for Western Oregon.
Ryanne Huffman doubled in the final frame. Â

The Wolves outhit the Silverswords 14 to five in the game.

Haley Fabian was the benefactor of the WOU offense in winning her first decision of the year. Going the distance, Fabian fanned eighth while scattering two runs on five hits.

Game Two – Western Oregon 12, Chaminade 4
The bats came alive early in game two with WOU scoring three runs on back-to-back home runs from Doyle and Kuehl. In the second inning, the Wolves scored five times capitalizing on three Chaminade errors and two hits.
Ryanne Huffman plated two with a single and fielding error while Kuehl homered deep to center field for two more runs in an 8-0 lead.

Kelsie Gardner doubled with two outs in the third to score
Gabriella Alonso to answer a run tallied by the hosts. The Wolves got into a position to enforce the run-rule with three runs, all with one out, in the fourth.
Ku'ulei Siolo singled to shortstop with two runners in scoring position for a RBI and Alfonso double home two for a 12-1 lead.

Chaminade scored three times in the bottom of the fourth utilizing just one hit, but
Lizzet Dominguez was able to keep the Silverswords off the board in the fifth to end the game.

Sammi Cadwallader allowed two hits over three innings to improve to 2-0 on the season while striking out three.
