LAIE, Hawaii – The Western Oregon softball team kept their bats hot in a dominant doubleheader sweep of BYU-Hawaii, taking down the Seasiders by scores of 9-3 and 11-0, with the latter game ending in five innings. The Wolves outhit BYUH a combined 27-to-5 in the twin bill.

Western Oregon has won four in a row and is now 6-5 on the year.

Game One – Western Oregon 9, BYU-Hawaii 3
WOU wasted little time getting single runs in the second and third innings with a RBI double from
Zoe Clark and a run-scoring infield single by
Ryanne Huffman.
Â
The Seasiders (1-7) took the lead with three runs on two hits in the bottom of the third, but WOU tacked on four runs in the top of the fourth inning to retake an advantage for good. Clark notched the first run scoring from third on a BYUH fielding error. Huffman picked up her second RBI of the game bouncing a ball to second base while
Ashley Doyle came through with a two-out, two-run double.

Ashley Lynch lifted a solo home run, her second of the year, to lead off the fifth and
Chandler Bishop picked up her first collegiate RBIs with a pinch-hit, two-run double in the sixth inning.

Haley Fabian (2-3) picked up the win in the circle for the Wolves, scattering three unearned runs on three hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
Lizzet Dominguez struck out two in 2.2 relief innings.

Game Two – Western Oregon 11, BYU-Hawaii 0
The bats came out firing against the Seasider pitching accounting for nine runs on 11 hits while taking advantage of three errors over the first two innings. Clark had three RBI including a two-run double in the first inning.

Destiny Kuehl closed out the scoring in the third inning with a two-run home run, her third on the year.

Sammi Cadwallader (3-0) controlled the game from the circle allowing just two batters over the minimum in her two-hit shutout. She induced 11 ground ball outs in 5.0 stellar innings.

Next Up
The Wolves continue their travel next weekend, heading to Caldwell, Idaho, for a four-game series against the College of Idaho. The first two games are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25 beginning at 12 noon Mountain.
