With rain continuing to pelt the Pacific Northwest, the Western Oregon University baseball team will alter their original travel plans nearly 60 miles in order to play host Saint Martin's University on the turf at Ravensdale Park (27200 SE Kent Kangley Rd, Ravensdale, Wash. 98051) for a four-game GNAC series. Game times have also changed with first pitch on both Saturday and Sunday expected to be thrown at 5 p.m. PDT.

WEEK IN REVIEW
WOU went 2-2 this past weekend against Central Washington in a neutral-site GNAC series in Portland.

- On Sunday a Joe Etzel Field, the Wolves fell twice to the Wildcats, 6-3 and 4-0, after being held to nine hits in the two games. Joey Crunkilton went 2-for-3 with a RBI in the first game while Brock Pradere was the only WOU with more than one hits in the nightcap, going 2-for-3.
- On Monday at Porter Park, WOU won both games to earn a series split with late heroics in both contests. Jacob Martinez's RBi sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning broke a scoreless stalemate to earn a 1-0 win. Three pitchers combined on the shutout – starter Craig Grubbe, Shawn Domke and Kade Mechals.
- After spotting the Wildcats a 4-0 lead, the Wolves scored five unanswered runs to win the seven-inning finale by a score of 5-4. A two-run double from Brock Pradere tied the game and Koty Fallon supplied the game-winner with a single in the bottom of the sixth. Alex Roth earned his first collegiate win in relief and Cam Walker notched his third save.

SAINTS NOTES
Saint Martin's enters the weekend with a 7-13 record and 4-8 mark in the GNAC after dropping three out of four games to Northwest Nazarene in Nampa last weekend. Offensively, the Saints are led by Steven Sordahl who is hitting a team-best .343 with five doubled and 10 runs batted in, while Adam Eskil leads the team with three home runs and 15 RBI while hitting .314. On the mound, Ryan Dorney has only allowed five earned runs in 24 1/3 innings, but is 0-4 on the year despite a 1.85 ERA. Aaron Shoup threw 6 1/3 innings allowing four runs in SMU's lone win last weekend against the Crusaders to improve to 1-2.
WOLVES AGAINST THE SAINTS
Western Oregon's opening game of this weekend's series will be the 150
th meeting all-time against Saint Martin' with the Wolves holding a 119-30 record against the Saints. WOU won seven of eight games last season – splitting two games played at the University of Portland, taking two games played in Monmouth and sweeping a four-game set in Lacey outscoring SMU 39-12 over the four games. The road series against SMU included a record-breaking performance when Western Oregon posted single-game highs with 14 doubles and 29 overall hits in a series-opening 20-6 win. Under head coach

Kellen Walker is his fifth year at the helm of the Wolves. Walker had led WOU to a 130-93 overall record in his tenure, including a 96-47 mark in GNAC competition. With four league wins, Walker will reach 100 wins within the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Western Oregon has finished either the league champion or league runner-up for 15 consecutive seasons. Under Walker, WOU won the league championship in 2014 and 2015 while making it to the GNAC Championship game in 2016.

PRESEASON RANKS
Western Oregon baseball was selected by the league's coaches to finish second behind defending league champion Northwest Nazarene in the race for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference title in 2017. In the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association vote, Western Oregon ranked in a tie for tenth with NNU.Â
Brady Miller was named to the West Region First Team and took home third-team preseason All-American honors from the same group.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN
Western Oregon's 37-man opening day active roster features nine seniors, 15 juniors, four sophomores and nine freshmen. The Wolves are a geographically diverse team with six stats represented. Twelve players hail from Oregon and nine from California. The states of Arizona and Washington each have six players while Nevada is represented by three and Hawaii has one.
