SALEM, Ore.—With a goal right before the break and insurance strikes in the second half, San Francisco State University dropped Western Oregon University, 3-0, in non-conference women's soccer action held at the Capital FC Soccer Complex on Saturday.
With the win, San Francisco State improved to 1-1-0 on the season while Western Oregon fell to 0-2-0.
Seconds into her shift after checking in late in the first half, Tami Kwong scored in the 42nd minute after collecting a loose ball just outside the box. Set up on the left side of the net, Kwong bent the long strike into the far side of the net for the eventual game-winning goal.
The Gators outshot the Wolves 7 to 4 with a 4 to 3 edge in attempts on goal in the first half and intensified the attack in the final 45minutes.
SF State doubled its lead in the 66th minute by working down the right flank, setting up a cross by Vanessa Penuna to an awaiting Laura Shea, who headed the ball into the near corner of the net for her second goal of the young season.
The Gators added its final tally in the 86th minute with a Sierra Sagasta goal following a scramble inside the 18-yard box.

Western Oregon will continue its home stand to begin the season on Tuesday, Sept. 5 when it faces Northwest Christian University. Kick off against the NAIA Beacons is set for 4 p.m. at the WOU Soccer Field.
