No. 18 Vikings withstands WOU in Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, Wash.—Scoring in the opening 10 minutes of play and in the final 10 minutes, No. 18-ranked Western Washington notched a 2-0 win over Western Oregon University while celebrating their Senior Day on Saturday evening.

Boosting the team to its fourth straight win, Western Washington's (13-2-1, 8-1-1 GNAC) Taylor Hallquist used a 20-yard blast in the 9th minute for the eventual game winner.
Western Oregon (5-8-2, 3-6-1 GNAC) went on to hold the Vikings scoreless for nearly 75 minutes of action before WWU's Dayana Diaz sent in the clinching score at the 83:38 mark following an assist by teammate Liv Larson.

Western Oregon was out shot 17 to 2 in the contest with reserves Hannah Cabral and Sydney Thomas credited with attempts, though neither was on frame.

WOU's Alex Qualls denied four shot attempts in the loss.

The Wolves will close out the regular season next week with two matches, beginning with the team's final home contest of the year on Thursday, Oct. 25 against Central Washington. Opening kick against the Wildcats is set for 3 p.m. at the WUO Soccer Field with the team honoring its six seniors prior to the match.

The team will close out the regular season at Saint Martin's on Saturday, Oct. 27 with a 2:30 p.m. kickoff in Lacey, Washington.
