MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon Wolves rolled to a record win in their final game of 2018, topping Portland Bible College 129-33 on Saturday at NPE Gym.
The 129 points represented the largest point total for a WOU team in the school's NCAA-era history, besting the previous high set last season against Fresno Pacific by six points. They also set Great Northwest Athletic Conference records for largest margin of victory (96), fewest field goals allowed (9) and low opponent field goal pct. (18.8).
Western Oregon (9-2) used early perimeter shooting to establish a lead. The Wolves shot 58.6% from 3-point range as a team, making 12 threes in the first half alone.
Bryan Berg scored eight of the team's first 11 points on his way to a career night. The senior guard tallied a career-high 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting, going 3-of-6 from three.
Berg was not the only one to put up career-highs on Saturday.
Cameron Cranston nearly doubled his previous high, dropping 23 points while staying perfect from deep. Cranston added in five rebounds in 21 minutes, scoring 16 of his points in the first half.
O'landa Baker registered his first double-double of the year with 16 points, 11 assists and six rebounds. His assist total ties him for the third-highest, single-game NCAA-era total for a WOU player, falling four dimes shy of the record. He set himself new season-highs in minutes, points, assists, rebounds and steals.
The Wildcats were led by the 12 points of Durham Rosser, the only player for PBC to register 10 or more points.
The Wolves took great care of the ball, giving up just five turnovers while forcing a season-high 28. 15 of those turnovers came on another team-best in steals.
Western Oregon returns to conference play next week with a trip to Alaska. They open up the two-game swing Jan. 3 against Alaska Anchorage. Tipoff against the Seawolves is set for 8:30 p.m. PST at Alaska Airlines Center.
