Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Quick strike propels Wolves to 1-0 win over NNU

NAMPA, Idaho—Two days after scoring one of the latest game-winners in school history, the Western Oregon women's soccer team used one of the team's earliest to defeat Northwest Nazarene, 1-0, Saturday.

Alexie Morris notched her third goal of the season just 65 seconds into the match while the Western Oregon (4-3-1, 2-1-0 GNAC) defense didn't allow a single shot on goal en route to the team's second straight shutout.

The goal was the second fastest in school history with a 2012 score against Oregon Tech the quickest strike at a mere 54 seconds. Last Thursday, the Wolves produced the game-winner in the 90th minute (89:21) against MSU Billings.

With the result, NNU fell to 5-2-1 on the season and 1-2-0 in GNAC play.

Facing just six shots in goal, Alex Qualls earned the win for the Wolves.

Not even at the halfway mark in the season, Western Oregon has already surpassed its overall and conference win total from a year ago. WOU finished with a 3-11-2 overall record and a 2-8-2 mark in conference play in 2017.

The Wolves will play a pair of matches next week with a road contest at Central Washington scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 27 and a home match against No. 15-ranked Western Washington on Saturday, Sept. 29.
