MONMOUTH, Ore.—Western Oregon University women's basketball Head Coach Holli Howard-Carpenter announced today the signing of high school standout Ahdra Klingler to a National Letter of Intent to attend WOU and play basketball starting in the fall of 2019.

"Ahdra is one of the top guards in the state of Oregon and I'm grateful she chose WOU to continue her academic and athletic career," Howard-Carpenter said. "Ahdra has a phenomenal work ethic and is a great fit for our program in all aspects. On the court, she is a solid ball handler with great vision. She already has so many tools and can score in a variety of ways. I think Ahdra will make an impact right away and I welcome her to our basketball family."

Klingler, a 5-foot-9 guard from Grants Pass High School, is averaging 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals per game for the Grants Pass team that is currently 8-3 on the season. 

A two-time all-league selection, Klingler averaged 12 points and five rebounds as a junior for Grants Pass

"Ahdra is the best player I have coached in my 10 years here," Grants Pass Head Coach Scott Wakefield said. "She is a relentless worker who spends numerous hours in the gym perfecting her craft – she is an old school gym rat. Ahdra is the most coachable player that I have had and is a wonderful teammate and student."

In addition to her play with Grants Pass, Klingler was a member of the AAU team WVBA. Klingler is also a standout during the cross country season with back-to-back state qualifiers as an individual racer.

"I am very excited to be attending Western Oregon next year to pursue my academic and athletic career. I chose WOU because of the comfortable environment for classes and the fun and competitiveness I found on the court," Klingler said. "The program and coaches really stuck out to me and played a major factor in my decision. I can't wait to play with them next year and take on my new journey as a Wolf!"
