No. 8 Nighthawks quiet Wolves in Nampa

NAMPA, Idaho—Forcing Western Oregon into its season high for turnovers, No. 8-ranked Northwest Nazarene defeated the Wolves, 77-43, on Saturday night.

Coming off its first loss of the season, Northwest Nazarene (18-1, 10-1 GNAC) grabbed a 9-2 lead out of the gate to put immediate pressure on Western Oregon (6-11, 3-8 GNAC).

Keyonna Jones deposited five straight WOU points to help the Wolves close to within a point with the score 12-11, but an 11-point retaliation by the Nighthawks provided the home side a double-digit lead before the end of the first.

Another Jones' jumper, this time with 5:51 left in the second quarter, split the deficit to seven points (24-17) only for NNU to unleash a 14-4 spree to end the half for a 38-21 lead at the break.

The Nighthawks continued their strong into the third quarter with a 10-0 run to double up the Wolves.

WOU committed a season-high 36 turnovers in the game with the Nighthawks converting those miscues into 37 points.

Natalie DeLonge led WOU with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting and added a team-high six rebounds. Jones finished with 11 points with a 4-for-4 performance at the free throw line.

Avery Albrecht paced the Nighthawks with 26 points with 15 coming from a 5-of-8 night from beyond 3-point land.

The Wolves held NNU to 39.4 percent shooting (28-of-71) from the floor for the Nighthawk's worst percentage since the middle of November—a span of 15 games.
