Box Score

MONMOUTH, Ore. –
The Western Oregon men's basketball team played their final exhibition game of the 2019-20 season on Saturday, breezing past Salem rival Corban University for a 91-71 win at NPE Gym.

The exhibition victory comes after a tough start to Great Northwest Athletic Conference play for Western Oregon (5-2, 0-2 GNAC) to help them bounce back with a sharp night of shooting from the field. The Wolves finished the game shooting 52 percent overall and 43 percent from 3-point range.

After having their lead cut to one at 11-10 following a 5-0 Corban (7-6) run, the Wolves streaked out for 12 consecutive points midway through the first half to pull away and never put the game in question the rest of the afternoon.

Jaylyn Richardson scored 21 points, 16 of which came in the second half, to lead all scorers. He was one of four Wolves to finish in double figures in scoring. Richardson was 9-for-13 from the field with four rebounds as well.

Tyreek Price added 12 points off the bench, all coming from three. Dalven Brushier scored 17 while Cameron Cranston tacked on 14 of his own.

The Wolves were able to force the Warriors into 18 turnovers, 10 of which came on steals to score 21 points off of turnovers. The Warriors struggled from three, shooting only 23 percent from beyond the arc, but were able to shoot 40 percent in total from the field.

The win was the ninth consecutive for Western Oregon over Corban dating back to 2002. The 91 points for the Wolves was the most against Corban since 2007.

Next up, the Wolves return to regular season play next Friday, Dec. 20, when they host the Dixie State Trailblazers. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. PST at NPE Gym.
