FRESNO, Calif.—With an already dangerous route through Southern Oregon and heavy rain expected in Northern California, the Western Oregon baseball series at Fresno Pacific University has been cancelled.
The two teams were scheduled to begin a four-game series on Thursday, Feb. 14 at the FPU Diamond.
The route to Fresno has been marked with road closures throughout the passes near the border and additional blizzard conditions are expected to continue throughout the week. Further jeopardizing the series, the weekend's forecast in Fresno calls for consistent rain in the region.
The cancellation is the second straight for WOU baseball after the season-opening series at Lewis-Clark State was called off due to unplayable conditions in Lewiston, Idaho.
The Wolves are now scheduled to open the season at home on March 2 with a four-game set against Montana State Billings. The series will also represent the GNAC opener for both clubs.
