Baseball Recognizes 18 Seniors on This Year's Team (Part 2 of 3)

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Over the next three days, we will honor the 18 Western Oregon University baseball seniors. We feature Logan Hatley, Tyler Brandenburg, Alan Vasquez, Josh Berman, Dylan Myers and Hank Forrest in this story.

Logan Hatley (Pitcher, Dallas, OR)

Hatley arrived at WOU during the 2020 season after transferring from Linn-Benton CC. The left-hander has thrown in seven games this season, going 2-1 in 26.2 innings of work. He has 33 strikeouts, going for a season-high of six twice against Montana State Billings and Saint Martin's. He threw a season-high 6.2 innings against Saint Martin's and threw six innings against Central Washington. In the field, he has one assist. He has multiple strikeouts in every game, going for a season-high seven against Saint Martin's.

During the shortened 2020 season, Hatley threw in three games, logging 13 innings and went 1-0 with a save, adding 19 strikeouts. He tossed a seven inning complete game win at Central Washington and added his save against Fresno Pacific going two innings. In the game against Central Washington, Hatley recorded 13 strikeouts. In the field, he added one assist.

During his sophomore season at Linn-Benton, Hatley went 7-3 with a 3.61 ERA in 62.1 innings. He posted 65 strikeouts and started 11 games.

During his freshman season, Hatley went 5-1 with a 2.26 ERA in 47.2 innings at Linn-Benton. He recorded 53 strikeouts in 11 games, that included 10 starts.

For his career, Hatley has pitched in 32 games, picking up 15 wins, tossing 149.2 innings pitched and recording 170 strikeouts. Plans after WOU: Hatley is majoring in communications/business, having already finished his communications part of his degree last year and completing business this year. He plans to continue his baseball career for as long as possible and then eventually get into coaching.

Tyler Brandenburg (Infield, San Carlos, CA)

Brandenburg arrived at WOU in 2019 after transferring from Canada College. This season, Brandenburg has played in 13 games that includes nine starts. He has eight hits, eight runs scored, two doubles, a home run, five RBI, four walks and three stolen bases. He has a hit in eight games this year and drove in two runs against Montana State Billings. Scored a pair of runs against Saint Martin's. In the field, he has 14 putouts and 24 assists.

During the shortened 2020 season, Brandenburg played in seven games that included five starts. He posted four hits, three runs scored, three RBI, three walks and a stolen base. He had a hit in four different games and drove in two runs against Montana State Billings. In the field, he tallied eight putouts and nine assists.

In his first season with the Wolves in 2019, Brandenburg played in nine games, recording two runs scored and two walks. In the field, he posted a putout.

During his sophomore season with Canada College in California, Brandenburg played in 39 games, coming away with 36 hits, four doubles, three triples, 15 RBI, 26 runs scored, 12 walks and 11 stolen bases.

During his first collegiate season at Canada College, Brandenburg played in 35 games, recording 18 hits, four doubles, seven runs scored, six RBI, 14 walks and two stolen bases.

For his career, Brandenburg has played in 103 games accumulating 66 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, a home run, 29 RBI, 46 runs scored and 17 stolen bases. Plans after WOU: Brandenburg is majoring in business management with a minor in entrepreneurship. He plans to pursue a career in business, hoping to work in the sports industry. He also plans on coaching baseball at the high school level.

Alan Vasquez (Pitcher, Santa Ana, CA)

Vasquez arrived at WOU during the 2020 season after spending time playing at both Pierce CC and Cal State San Bernardino. The right-hander has pitched in six games this year tallying two saves and logging 10.2 innings, along with 16 strikeouts. Vasquez tallied his saves against Saint Martin's and Northwest Nazarene not allowing a run in either outing. He threw a season-high 4.1 innings against Saint Martin's and added a season-high nine strikeouts in the same game. He has three multi-strikeout games this year.

In his first season with the Wolves during the shortened 2020 year, he saw action in three games going 2-1 in 13 innings pitched and 27 strikeouts. He pitched six innings in a win at Central Washington striking out 13. He also struck out 11 in a win at Fresno Pacific going five innings. In the field, he had two assists.

Before transferring to WOU, Vasquez played the 2019 season at Cal State San Bernardino. He pitched in five games that were all starts. He tossed 26 innings and picked up a win, along with 20 strikeouts. He picked up the win against Cal State Monterey Bay going five innings and allowed two runs and tallied four strikeouts. Three times that season he pitched at least six innings in a start.

During his sophomore season at Pierce CC, Vasquez pitched in 13 games that were all starts. He went 7-4 in 77.1 innings of work, posting five shutouts, a 2.21 ERA and 83 strikeouts.

In his first collegiate season in 2017 with Pierce CC, Vasquez saw time in 14 games that included nine starts. He went 5-3 in 66.1 innings of work with a 2.71 ERA and 55 strikeouts.

For his career, Vasquez has pitched in 41 games and recording 15 wins and two saves, along with pitching in 193.1 innings and has 201 strikeouts. Plans after WOU: Vasquez is majoring in communications and plans to play affiliated baseball or baseball in Mexico.

Josh Berman (Utility, Medford, OR)

Berman arrived at WOU for this season after spending time playing at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Orange Coast CC and Clark CC. Berman has put together a strong season this year with the Wolves playing in 19 games that includes 17 starts. He is hitting .369 with 24 hits, 18 runs scored, six doubles, six home runs, 21 RBI, five walks and a stolen base. He helped tie for the new school record with Blayze Arcano for home runs in a game when he hit three home runs in the Apr. 30 game at Montana State Billings. Berman is second on the team in home runs and third in RBI. He has six multi-hit games going for a season-high four during the Apr. 30 game at Montana State Billings and added a three-hit game against Saint Martin's. He drove in a season-high eight RBI in the game against MSU Billings and has four multi-hit games and scored multiple runs in a game four times with a season-high four versus MSU Billings. In the field, Berman has four putouts. Berman was named to the All-GNAC Second Team this season.

During the 2020 season at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Berman played in 10 games that included four starts, he posted a hit and, in the field, he tallied two putouts and four assists.

Berman redshirted during his first season at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi during the 2019 season.

During his sophomore season at Orange Coast College, Berman played in 40 games, collecting 38 hits, 32 runs scored, 10 doubles, a triple, three home runs, 26 RBI and 12 walks.

Berman began his collegiate career at Clark CC where he played in 38 games during the 2017 season. He tallied 37 hits, 21 runs scored, 11 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 26 RBI, 13 walks and three stolen bases.

For his career, Berman has played in 107 games collecting 100 hits, 27 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs, 73 RBI and 71 runs scored.

Dylan Myers (Pitcher, Eugene, OR)

Myers has spent his entire career with the Wolves arriving in 2018. This season, the right-hander has appeared in three games logging three innings and two strikeouts. He tossed 1.1 innings against Central Washington and added an inning versus Montana State Billings. In the field, Myers tallied an assist.

During the shortened 2020 season, Myers pitched in three games, tallying an inning. He pitched a third of an inning in three different games against Fresno Pacific (twice) and Central Washington.

During the 2019 season, Myers pitched in 15 games totaling 19.1 innings, going 3-2 with a save and 20 strikeouts with a 4.19 ERA. He opened the season getting a win in 1.2 innings of relief against Montana State Billings. He added another win in an inning of work against Central Washington added another win going three innings against Saint Martin's. He added a save later in the season against Central Washington throwing three more innings. Myers had seven multi-strikeout games with a season-high four strikeouts against Saint Martin's. In the field he recorded a putout and an assist.

Myers began his career as a true freshman in 2018 appearing in nine games, going 1-0 with a 3.37 ERA and 10.2 innings. He also recorded three strikeouts. He tallied his win going 1.2 innings against Northwest Nazarene allowing no runs and a strikeout. Myers threw a season-high two innings against Lewis-Clark State.

For his career, Myers has pitched in 30 games, tallying four wins and a save, tossing 32 innings and adding 25 strikeouts. Plans after WOU: Myers is majoring in business with a minor in communication. He plans to attend graduate school and get a master's in business.

Hank Forrest (Outfield, Eugene, OR)

Forrest arrived at WOU this year after spending time at both Seattle University and Lane CC. This season, Forrest has played in nine games that includes two starts. He is hitting .357 with five hits, nine runs scored, two home runs, five RBI, three walks and two stolen bases. He tallied a two-hit game at Montana State Billings when he hit a pair of home runs and drove in four runs. Three times this season he has scored multiple runs, twice against Montana State Billings and once against Saint Martin's. In the field, he has recorded seven putouts.

Forrest spent the 2019 season at Seattle University, but didn't see any action.

As a sophomore at Lane CC in 2018, Forrest played in 50 games, tallying 38 hits, 22 runs scored, nine doubles, two triples, 21 RBI and two stolen bases. He also drew 10 walks.

Forrest began his collegiate career at Lane CC in 2017 playing in 49 games, tallying 49 hits, 28 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, 15 RBI, 21 walks and five stolen bases. He also drew 21 walks.

For his career, Forrest has played in 108 games, collecting 92 hits, 59 runs scored, 16 doubles, four triples, four home runs and 41 RBI.
