Baseball Pushes Winning Streak to Eight Games With Four-Game Sweep of Saints

LACEY, Wash. -- The Western Oregon University baseball team continued to pile up the runs and the wins on Friday, taking both games over Saint Martin's to complete the four-game sweep following wins of 6-2 and 15-6 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action.

In the opener, WOU (20-6, 19-5 GNAC) opened the scoring with three runs in the second inning. Connor McCord opened the frame with a single through the right side. A ground out moved him to second, before advancing to third on a single by Justyn Herzog. A line out marked the second out and then the offense put together a run with Anthony Zellner doubling to right-center to plate the first run. Blayze Arcano finished the inning with a two-run single to right to push WOU to a 3-0 lead.

McCord added two runs in the third when he connected on the first pitch he saw for a two-run homer down the right field line for the 5-0 lead. He scored Derek Maiben who led off the inning with a single to center.
