Wolves volleyball starts strong, falls short at Northwest Nazarene

NAMPA, Idaho --- The Western Oregon volleyball team took the first set from Northwest Nazarene on Thursday night, but dropped the next three and fell 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-16) at the Johnson Sports Center.

The Wolves jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the opening set - led by a pair of kills from Sarah Crowell - and never trailed the rest of the way or let the Nighthawks get within two points to pick up the 25-20 win.

However, NNU was strong in the next three sets and WOU didn't have an answer.

Crowell paced the Wolves with 11 kills while Bailee Hartsook added 10. Emily West had 19 assists while Laney O'Neil added 17.

Bella MacLellan had a team-high four blocks while Madison Hornback finished with a team-high 17 digs.

The Wolves return to action Saturday at Central Washington.
