MONMOUTH, Ore. – In the first regular season poll of the 2022 season, the Western Oregon University baseball team is receiving votes in the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top 25 Poll. The Wolves remained fourth in the NCBWA West Region rankings.

WOU tallied three points and would be ranked 35^th if the poll extended past the top 25. The West Region is well represented with Point Loma coming in seventh, Chico State at 16^th and Concordia-Irvine at 25^th. Wingate is the top-ranked team, followed by Tampa and Colorado Mesa round out the top-three.

In terms of the West Region, Western Oregon stayed in fourth with 37 points. Point Loma with all six first-place votes is the top seed, followed by Chico State with 50 points and Concordia-Irvine ahead of the Wolves in third with 42 points. Cal Poly Pomona is fifth in the region with 30 points, Azusa Pacific in sixth with 28 points, Northwest Nazarene in seventh with 20 points, Cal State Monterey Bay in eighth with 19 points and then three teams are tied for ninth with 10 points in Fresno Pacific, Hawaii Hilo and Montana State Billings.

WOU is coming off of a 3-1 week against Stanislaus State winning the final three games of the series, with two coming in extra innings. The Wolves went 5-3 on their first two trips to California.

WOU hosts their first games of the season in Monmouth this weekend against Eastern Oregon with a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday starting at noon each day.
