Football Completes Non-Conference Schedule With Weber State, Lincoln (CA)

MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon University football team has filled out the rest of their 2022 fall schedule with the additions of Weber State and Lincoln (CA).

WOU will travel to face Division I (FCS) Weber State to open the season in week one playing a Thursday night game on Sep. 1 in Ogden, Utah. The Wildcats play in the Big Sky Conference and the Wolves played Portland State out of that conference this past season nearly pulling out the win on the road.

Weber State went 6-5 last year and Portland State defeated the Wildcats in Utah later in the season, 30-18.

"We're really excited to be adding another quality opponent from the Division I Big Sky Conference. Weber State is a very good team that has made multiple trips to the NCAA Playoffs and will challenge us right away to start the season. This will help us get ready for a challenging Lone Star Conference slate later in the year," head coach Arne Ferguson said.

WOU also announced the addition of a home contest against Lincoln (CA) for week two of the season that will take place on Saturday, Sep. 10.

The Wolves wrapped up the 2021 season hosting Lincoln (CA) rolling to the 55-16 victory. It was the first season of football for the Oaklanders out of California.

"Having Lincoln (CA) on the schedule again will be great for our players as it gives us a chance to play another home game and see a quality opponent. Lincoln (CA) is going to continue to get better as they build that program and we look forward to facing them this coming season," Ferguson said.

With the addition of the two games against Weber State and Lincoln (CA), WOU has filled out their 2022 fall schedule. The Wolves will play six total home games also welcoming in Texas Permian Basin, Angelo State, West Texas A&M, Eastern New Mexico and Simon Fraser in Lone Star Conference action to McArthur Field. WOU will travel to Western New Mexico, Central Washington, Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Kingsville.
