MONMOUTH, Ore. – After being named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Pitcher and Newcomer of the Year, along with a First Team conference selection, Arturo Alvarez added more accolades on Wednesday when he was named to the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) First Team All-West Region.

It's been a strong first season with the Wolves for the right-hander on the mound this year. Alvarez holds a 2.74 ERA, to go along with a 7-1 record in 65.2 innings and adds 48 strikeouts. He is holding opponents to just a .213 average.

Alvarez has tossed at least five innings in 10 games this season, going seven innings against Saint Martin's (twice). He has allowed two earned runs or less in 10 games, an earned run or less in six games and no runs in two starts. Alvarez has multiple strikeouts in 10 games, with a high of eight against Saint Martin's.

In terms of NCAA rankings, Alvarez is 51st nationally in ERA, 41st in hits allowed per nine innings (6.99), 89th in victories and 30th in WHIP (1.05).

Alvarez and the Wolves open the NCAA West Regional #2 on Thursday against Cal State Monterey Bay starting at 2 p.m.
