MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The 19th-ranked Western Oregon women's soccer team begins GNAC play this week at home as the Wolves host Saint Martin's 2 p.m. Thursday and Western Washington 2 p.m. Saturday.
WOLVES HEADING INTO THE WEEKÂ | 2022 STATISTICS
WOU is coming off a 1-1 tie with CSU Monterey Bay on Sunday at WOU Soccer Field. The Wolves got a first-half goal by
Leeci Snyder that was assisted by
Chloe Smith, but the Otters picked up the equalizer in the 65th minute as the game finished as a draw.
For Snyder, it was her second goal of the season to lead the team while four other players have one goal apiece and three different players have one assist apiece.
Olivia Holdenried has played all but five minutes at keeper this season for the Wolves and owns a 0.76 GAA, 26 saves and a 0.897 save percentage.
SAINT MARTIN'S HEADING INTO THE WEEKÂ | 2022 STATISTICS
The Saints are coming off a 2-1 victory over CSU Monterey Bay on Friday - getting first-half goals from Maria Pagnotta and Alyssa Carapia and holding on for the win.Â
Pagnotta leads the team with two goals and four points while Carapia has three points with a goal and an assists on the season. Ali Campiogotto got the start at goalkeeper Friday, picking up 10 saves in the victory. Soph Mendoza had started the first two games with a GAA of 1.00 and 18 saves.
WESTERN WASHINGTON HEADING INTO THE WEEKÂ | 2022 STATISTICS
The Vikings last played Sept. 6 at No. 13 Point Loma, where they tied 1-1. WWU took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute on a Dayana Diaz goal and led for nearly 42 minutes before Point Loma scored in the 75th minute and the game ended in a draw. This will mark the third time in four games the Vikings are playing a nationally ranked team after losing to No. 20 Sonoma State 2-1 on Sept. 3 (a team WOU defeated earlier this season on the road).
WWU has had five different players score a goal apiece and four other players account for one assist each on the season. At keeper, Claire Henninger has started two games and has a 1.50 GAA, eight saves and a 0.727 save percentage (she has started the last two games) while Abigail Trengove started the other two games (0.58 GAA, 8 saves, 0.889 save percentage).
RECENT HISTORY VERSUS SAINT MARTIN'S, WESTERN WASHINGTON
The Wolves are 4-2-1 against Saint Martin's since 2018 - including winning the last matchup in Monmouth 2-1 in 2021. WOU tied with WWU in Monmouth last season 1-1 in the teams' last matchup, breaking a nine-game losing streak to the Vikings. The Wolves last defeated WWU Oct. 19, 2013 - a 1-0 win.

The Western Oregon women's soccer team is off to its best start in program history at 3-0-1 - eclipsing the 2-0-2 start from 2013. No Wolves women's soccer team has ever started undeafeted through five games.Â

The Western Oregon women's soccer team's historic start to the 2022 season didn't unnoticed as the previously unranked Wolves shot up to No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Rankings released Sept. 6.Â
This week after a draw with Monterey Bay, the Wolves are at No. 19.

WOLVES PICK UP ROAD WIN OVER RANKED FOE ...
The Western Oregon women's soccer team had a tough challenge to start the season as it hit the road to take on No. 20 Sonomoa State - but came away with a 1-0 win August 25.
Jenna Efraimson scored in the 10th minute and the defense - led by a stellar effort by
Olivia Holdenried - did the rest. Holdenried had 14 saves and faced 34 shots to pick up the shutout.
HOLDENRIED NAMED GNAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Olivia Holdenried has been named the GNAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29 after leading the Wolves to a pair of impressive victories. The sophomore from Windsor, California, allowed only one goal in the run of play (the other came on a penalty shot) and collected 20 saves in a pair of wins over defending conference champions this week (one of which was nationally ranked). In her most impressive performance, Holdenried picked up a shutout and had 14 saves (while facing 34 shots) in WOU's 1-0 win over No. 20 Sonoma State on the road Thursday. She then picked up six saves against Colorado Mesa in the Wolves' win Sunday at home.
