MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon women's soccer team returns home to host a pair of GNAC games this week, taking on Central Washington 1:30 p.m. Thursday on the WOU Turf Field before hosting Northwest Nazarene 11 a.m. Saturday at the WOU Soccer Field.

WOLVES HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2022 STATISTICS
WOU went 0-1-1 last week on the road in GNAC action, dropping a 2-1 contest at Seattle Pacific on Thursday before playing to a 1-1 draw at MSU Billings on Saturday. Savannah Taylor scored for the Wolves against SPU while Chloe Smith scored for WOU in the tie against MSUB.

Smith, Taylor and Briana Kubli are tied for the team lead in points with five - each having two goals and an assist on the season. Leeci Snyder also has a pair of goals this season for the Wolves while Elizabeth Parker leads the team with three assists. At keeper, Isabella Lopez made her first start of the season in the 1-1 draw against MSUB on Sunday and has a 0.87 GAA in 103 minutes this season while Olivia Holdenried has started the other seven matches and owns a 1.17 GAA.

CENTRAL WASHINGTON HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2022 STATISTICS
The Wildcats went 0-1-1 last week at home, losing to Western Washington 3-0 on Thursday before playing Simon Fraser to a 3-3 draw on Saturday - getting goals from Jordan Bartlow, Cassidie Andrews and Kayla Gout.

Emily Darcy leads the team in points (5) and goals (2) while adding an assist and a team-high 11 shots as CWU has five goals in eight games this season. At keeper, Kassandra Jaggard has played the majority of the minutes (556 of 720) with a 1.78 GAA, 0.750 save percentage and 33 saves.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2022 STATISTICS
The Nighthawks are coming off a 1-0-1 week at home, beating Simon Fraser 3-0 on Thursday (goals from Alejandra Jaramillo, Madison Grande and Sierra Sanchez and a shutout from Alexis Montoya with three saves) before playing Western Washington to a 0-0 draw (Montoya with another shutout with three more saves). 

Madison Grande leads the NNU and the GNAC in shots (29), points (12) and goals (6) with no other GNAC player with more than three goals - which one of those are her teammate Ashley Parton, who also has an assist to total seven poins this season. Sanchez (who is second on the team with 17 shots) and Alejandra Jaramillo have two goals apiece with Sanchez also adding an assist. Montoya on the season at keeper has started seven of the team's eight games and has a 1.00 GAA with 18 saves, a 0.720 save percentage and three shutouts.

RECENT HISTORY VERSUS CWU, NNU
The Wolves have won three games in a row against Central Washington - including 4-2 and 3-0 wins last season. The last loss to the Wildcats came Oct. 25, 2018 in Monmouth - a 1-0 defeat.

Against NNU, WOU is 0-3-3 over the last three seasons. The last win came Sept. 22, 2018 in Nampa, Idaho - a 1-0 win. The last win for WOU over the Nighthawks in Monmouth came Sep. 24, 2016 - a 2-1 victory.
 
WESTERN OREGON WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTES
BEST START IN PROGRAM HISTORY ...
The Western Oregon women's soccer team got off to its best start in program history at 3-0-1 - eclipsing the 2-0-2 start from 2013. With its win Sept. 15 against Saint Martin's to go 4-0-1, its the first time a Wolves team has ever started a season without a loss through five games.

WOU RECEIVES FIRST NATIONAL TOP 10 RANKING ...
The Western Oregon women's soccer team's historic start to the 2022 season didn't unnoticed as the previously unranked Wolves shot up to No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Rankings released Sept. 6. The Wolves moved to No. 19 the following week and currently sit unranked in the national top 25.

WOLVES PICK UP ROAD WIN OVER RANKED FOE ...

The Western Oregon women's soccer team had a tough challenge to start the season as it hit the road to take on No. 20 Sonomoa State - but came away with a 1-0 win August 25. Jenna Efraimson scored in the 10th minute and the defense - led by a stellar effort by Olivia Holdenried - did the rest. Holdenried had 14 saves and faced 34 shots to pick up the shutout.

HOLDENRIED NAMED GNAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Western Oregon goalkeeper Olivia Holdenried has been named the GNAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29 after leading the Wolves to a pair of impressive victories. The sophomore from Windsor, California, allowed only one goal in the run of play (the other came on a penalty shot) and collected 20 saves in a pair of wins over defending conference champions this week (one of which was nationally ranked). In her most impressive performance, Holdenried picked up a shutout and had 14 saves (while facing 34 shots) in WOU's 1-0 win over No. 20 Sonoma State on the road Thursday. She then picked up six saves against Colorado Mesa in the Wolves' win Sunday at home.
