BILLINGS, Mont. --- The Western Oregon women's soccer team suffered its second loss of the season as the Wolves fell to Montana State University Billings 2-1 on Thursday at the Yellowjacket Soccer Field.
In the 23rd minute, the Wolves (6-2-1, 3-2) were the first to score when Olivia Fothergill headed the ball to Raeanne Jones, who then sent a high-arching pass to Lilly Nowatzke and she scored into the top-left corner.
The Yellowjackets (2-4-2, 1-3-1) tied the game at 1-1 in the second half with a goal in the 53rd minute. In the 66th minute, MSUB took the lead off a penalty goal kick to go up 2-1.
In the loss, WOU outshot MSUB 20-5, with the Wolves having six on target to the Yellowjackets' five. Goalkeeper Sophia Pierce finished with three saves in the game.
The Wolves will travel to Seattle to face off against first-place Seattle Pacific 2 p.m. Saturday.
