MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon men's soccer team kept on rolling Saturday as the Wolves used a pair of second-half goals to defeat Saint Martin's 2-0 at WOU Turf Field to move their unbeaten streak to five.
WOU (6-2-1 overall, 3-0-1 GNAC) and the Saints (3-5-1, 1-3-0) played a scoreless first half (though the Wolves had their chances with 13 shots) before the Wolves took the lead in the second half when
Andres Labate scored in the 57th minute on an assist from
Yahir Ocampo.
The Wolves expanded the lead to 2-0 when it was Ocampo putting one in the net in the 65th minute on an assist from
Marco Millan.
WOU did the rest, holding SMU to jus six shots and only three on goal (three saves by WOU's
Juan Suarez). Overall, the Wolves outshot the Saints 21-6.
In just its second year of existence, the Wolves now find themselves atop the GNAC standings with 10 points after two weeks of conference play. WOU returns to action noon Thursday when it hosts Western Washington.
