SAN ANGELO, Texas --- The Western Oregon football team lost its season finale at Angelo State 31-13 Saturday evening at LeGrand Stadium.
While the Wolves (3-8 overall, 2-6 LSC) never led in the contest, they stayed close until the final quarter as they tied the game in the second quarter 7-7 on a
Brenden Hodge 8-yard touchdown reception from
Gannon Winker and just trailed 14-10 at the half as
Charlie Shulkin blasted a 45-yard field goal at the end of the second.
But the Rams (7-3, 6-2) outscored the Wolves 17-3 in the final two quarters to pull away for the victory.
The WOU defense held tough, allowing just 230 yards.
Malcolm Liufau and
Tyler Copeland led the team with eight tackles each while
Isaiah Abraham had seven tackles (1.5 for a loss) as did
Xavier Owens.
Austin Bacher paced the Wolves offense with 113 yards rushing while adding three catches for another 13 yards. Winker finished 12-for-28 for 113 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions.Â
