DENTON, Texas --- The Western Oregon softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Texas Woman's University 3-1 and 1-0 on Friday at Dianne Baker Field.

In game one, the Wolves (5-4) took an early 1-0 lead on a Katelyn McGough RBI triple down the right field line to score Maddie Doig.

But that's all the scoring for WOU as it was held to two hits the rest of the way while TWU (4-3) scored a run in the third and two more in the fourth to pick up the win.

McGough led WOU at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Maddie Mayer got the loss, going five innings and giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits with a strikeout and two walks.

In game two, the only run of the game came in the third inning when TWU scored on a while pitch as WOU was held to four hits in the game (nobody with multiple hits - McGough hit a double for the only extra-base hit).

Chelsea Smith picked up the tough loss, going six innings and giving up a run on two hits with five strikeouts and five walks (she also hit two batters).

The Wolves stay Texas as they take on No. 3 UT Tyler in a three-game series starting iwth a doubleheader on Saturday.
