MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The third quarter turned out to be the difference for the Western Oregon women's basketball team as Simon Fraser outscored the Wolves 31-15 in the period as WOU fell 75-69 Saturday at New PE Building.
The Wolves (10-12 overall, 4-10 GNAC) outscored the Red Leafs in each of the other quarters and by a combined score of 54-44.
But the Red Leafs got hot in teh third quarter, going 5-for-9 from 3-point range and 11-for-20 overall from the field.
The Wolves trailed by as much as 16 in the fourth quarter, but late cut the lead down four with 11 seconds left after a Kiylynn Dawksin bucket - but WOU wouldn't get any closer.
Cali McClave led four Wolves in double figures with 18 points to go along with seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks. Dawkins had 15 points and seven rebounds,
Erika Glenn had 14 points and six rebounds and
Princy Paaluhi-Caulk had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds to go along with four assists.
WOU travels to Alaska next week, taking on Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday and Alaska Anchorage on Saturday.
