TUCSON, Ariz. --- The Western Oregon softball team dropped a pair of games and moved to 2-2 at the Cactus Classic on Saturday.
The Wolves opened up with a 6-0 loss to Mercyhurst before dropping a 5-1 decision to Georgian Court.
In the loss to Georgian Court, WOU (7-9) took a 1-0 lead when
Kirah McGlothan drew a bases loaded walk to make it 1-0 before Georgian Court tied it in the bottom of the first. The score remained that way until GC scored a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and another in the sixth.
The Wolves managed three hits in the contest, one each from
Chelby Smalley,
Sydney Conklin and
Victoria Zimmerman.
Maddie Mayer picked up the loss, going five innings and giving up four runs on six hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
WOU concludes play at the event 9 a.m. Sunday against UM Crookston.
