NAMPA, Idaho --- The Western Oregon softball team lost to Northwest Nazarene 9-1 and 12-1 on Saturday at Halle Field in non-GNAC action.
In game one, WOU trailed NNU 3-0 heading into fourth before a
Kate Ronning RBI single scored
Chelby Smalley to cut the deficit to two.

But the Nighthawks would score one in the fifth and five more in the sixth to put the game away.

Four players each had one hit with
Maddie Doig hitting a double.
Erica Soliz picked up the loss for WOU, going five innings and giving up six runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
In game two, the Nighthawks used a seven-run second inning to pull away for the 12-1 win - which included nine unearned runs allowed by the Wolves. Doig drove in the Wolves' lone run in the fourth inning on a double and went 1-for-1 with a walk to lead the team.
Maddie Mayer got the loss, going four innings and giving up 12 runs (three earned) on 12 hits with a strikeouts and two walks.
WOU opens GNAC play next Saturday at Saint Martin's.
