MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon baseball team scored 19 runs while pounding out 26 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Central Washington, 9-3 and 10-2, Saturday afternoon at WOU Baseball Field.

In game one, the Wolves (19-12, 12-8) fell behind 2-0 in the first before answering the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own on a John Oleson two-run double to left center to tie it 2-2. The score was tied at three until the fifth before a run scored on an error on a Derek Maiben double and another run scored on an error to make it 5-3.

WOU scored two more on Wildcat (15-24, 10-12) errors in the seventh before a two-run single by Justyn Herzog in the eighth made the final 9-3.

Sacrifice flies by Derek Maiben and AJ Cortese in the fourth inning made it 8-2 before a Cortese two-run double made it 10-2.

The Wolves had 15 hits in the game with six players finishing with multiple hits: Levi Cummings (3-for-4, two runs, stolen base), Mitzel (3-for-3, double, two RBI, two runs), Jacob Maiben (2-for-4, double, two runs), Oleson (2-for-3, RBI, two runs), Cortese (2-for-3, two doubles, three RBI, run) and Cedric Gatter (2-for-4).
